The STOC continues!

Yesterday morning we realized our third session of the protocol STOC. The result is disappointing with 29 catches: it is almost twice less than previous years! Nesting has probably been delayed and some birds are still hatching. This observation is verified on all the region stations in the dune habitats and the bad weather this spring has to be the main reason. To note however the ringing of a young Black Redstart in post-juvenile movement.
Otherwise, we always prepare actively the 2012 season to have a “nice” station and ready to welcome you by July 16th. These last days we spent to install net on one part of the trap to replace the wire netting which could still caused minor injuries.

Net installation.

Before : when removing the wire netting.

After!

Black Redstart. (Phoenicurus ochruros)

Robin. (Erithacus rubecula)

Dunnock. (Prunella modularis)
