We thought
of being lucky with yesterday session but finally it was only the hors d'oeuvre
for today. It happened something this night in the sky and there was a real “fall
of migrants”! While we didn’t catch a single Pied Flycatcher last year we
ringed 19 this morning!! But, we also captured: 26 Willow Warblers, 25 Garden
Warblers, 2 Wrynecks (one in the trap), 1 Redstart, 1 Spotted Flycatcher, 1
Crested Tit, 3 Green Woodpeckers and 1 Sparrowhawk (thank you canopy!) for a
total of 167 captures concerning 24 different species.
In brief a crazy
morning!!
The daily species!! : Pied Flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca).
Redstart, beautiful adult male (Phoenicurus ochruros).
Wryneck, adult, note the red eye (Jynx torquilla).
The dream team!! : Sylvette, Sylvain, Renaud, Gael et Charles (who is not on the picture).
